Arsenal has initiated direct discussions with Newcastle United regarding the potential transfer of midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. The 26-year-old Brazilian international has been a key player for Newcastle since his arrival in January 2022.

Guimaraes traveled with Newcastle for their pre-season training camp in La Manga as scheduled, following his post-World Cup break. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been vocal about the club's ambitions, stating that they are "very active" and "very ambitious in what we want to do" during the transfer window. He emphasized the need to "increase the competition internally" and identify areas where the team can be strengthened.

Last season, Guimaraes contributed significantly to Newcastle's performance, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists across all competitions. Newcastle finished 12th in the Premier League standings. Arsenal, having won the Premier League, aims to further strengthen their squad.
