Arnold Schwarzenegger marked his 79th birthday by continuing his fitness routine, lifting weights at Gold's Gym in Venice, California. The former California Governor posted photos from his workout on Thursday, sharing his message with his 62.1 million social media followers. Schwarzenegger stated that he did not want any gifts for his birthday. Instead, he urged his followers to join his fitness app, Arnold's Pump Club, offering the first year free to those who complete four workout programs. He described the app as a "crusade" backed by himself, rather than a corporate entity, expressing a decades-long commitment to encouraging people to train. "If I can make millions of you train all year, I'll take the loss," he wrote.
Schwarzenegger also received a birthday tribute from his eldest daughter, Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt. The influencer shared a slideshow on social media, writing, "Happy birthday, Dad! So lucky you're ours… and even luckier our kids get you as Opa." While she did not include photos of Schwarzenegger with his grandchildren, Lyla, Eloise, and Ford, she posted throwback pictures of herself with her father, as well as images of Schwarzenegger with her mother and his ex-wife, Maria Shriver.
Schwarzenegger and Shriver were married for 25 years, with their divorce finalized in 2021. They share three younger children: Christina, Patrick, and Christopher. Shriver famously discovered Schwarzenegger had fathered a child, Joseph, with their housekeeper, Mildred Baena, during their marriage. Joseph has since followed in his father's bodybuilding footsteps.
In terms of his acting career, Schwarzenegger is set to star as Santa Claus in the upcoming Christmas action comedy "The Man with the Bag," premiering December 2 on Prime Video. Principal photography recently began in Budapest for his abduction action film "The Kellys" for Amazon MGM Studios, where he stars alongside Liam Hemsworth, Geena Davis, Michael Biehn, and Noomi Rapace. The actor has also expressed excitement about a potential return as Conan the Barbarian in 20th Century Studios' sequel "King Conan," written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie. Schwarzenegger described the envisioned film as being similar in tone to Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven," focusing on an older, perhaps complacent king facing challenges.
Schwarzenegger also confirmed that he does not want any gifts and is offering his fitness app Arnold's Pump Club for free for a year if followers can complete four workout programs.
