An Army veteran was fatally shot during an argument over a parking space at a Walmart in North Lauderdale, Florida, according to reports. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cellphone footage of the event shows the 62-year-old victim, identified as Bart Diguglielmo, engaged in a verbal altercation with an unidentified woman in the store's parking lot. As the exchange continued, the woman produced a firearm and shot Diguglielmo, who was several feet away. The video depicts Diguglielmo clutching his stomach before falling to the ground.

Following the shooting, the woman reportedly placed the gun on a car and waited for law enforcement to arrive. Witnesses described her as screaming and crying, though investigators also alleged she taunted the victim as he lay on the ground.

Deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office took the woman into custody. She claimed self-defense to the responding officers.

Diguglielmo, a retired nurse and decorated Army veteran from Lauderhill, Florida, was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His daughter, Amanda, described her father as a "good man" and stated that no one deserves to lose their life over a parking spot. She also refuted claims that her father had initiated the confrontation.

The Broward County State Attorney’s Office is reviewing the cellphone footage as part of an ongoing investigation to determine whether criminal charges will be filed against the shooter.
