A U.S. Army soldier has been charged with the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Ohio. Jayden Christopher Fox, 21, was arrested Friday at a motel in rural Montville following allegations of sexual activity with the minor.
Court records indicate Fox faces a felony charge of rape of a child under 13, which carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of at least five years. Fox, originally from Florida, graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina last year. It remains unclear where he is currently stationed, as he is not based at Fort Jackson, according to a spokesperson for the installation.
Fox appeared in court on Monday, where his bond was set at $2 million. He is currently being held at the Medina County Jail. A grand jury indicted him on a first-degree felony charge of rape on Tuesday, and his arraignment is scheduled for August 24. He has not yet entered a plea.
A complaint filed in Medina Municipal Court states that on Friday, "Jayden Fox, being 21 years old, did engage in sexual conduct with a 12-year-old female." The complaint's information was based on a review of a report from the investigating Montville police officer.
The judge granted a temporary protection order for the alleged victim. Prosecutors recommended that Fox be prohibited from contact with individuals under 18. The U.S. Army and Fox's defense attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Fox's arrest follows similar charges against other military members accused of sexually assaulting children. In June, Sgt. Major Victor M. Rivera, 49, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting two children. The Office of Special Trial Counsel stated Rivera began abusing one victim under 16 in 2019 and another victim under 12 the following year. He was reduced in rank to E-1 and received a dishonorable discharge.
In May, Tyrone Barry Carter Jr., 26, a soldier stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia, was arrested and charged with aggravated child molestation. Multiple alleged victims accused him of nonconsensual sexual contact during their childhood, reportedly occurring between 2017 and 2026. Carter has not entered a plea, and his bond was set at $25,000 in June.
Furthermore, in December 2025, a soldier from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Spc. Samuel Noel Talavera, 23, was charged with sex trafficking an 11-year-old girl from Tucson, Arizona. A criminal complaint alleged Talavera targeted the girl after connecting online. He faced 15 counts of accomplice to sexual conduct with a minor, six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, five counts of fraud, and four counts of child sex trafficking. Four other men were arrested in connection with the Talavera case. Attorneys for Carter and Talavera have been contacted for comment.
