Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has submitted his resignation to President Donald Trump, according to sources familiar with the matter. The move comes amid reported growing tension between Driscoll and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The White House acknowledged Driscoll's departure in a statement Monday, thanking him for his service and describing him as "highly effective." White House spokesperson Anna Kelly stated that Driscoll advanced the administration's agenda by providing "outstanding leadership during historic military operations, restoring an emphasis on readiness and lethality, assisting with negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, and more."
"The United States Army is more powerful than ever thanks to his work alongside the Commander-in-Chief and Secretary of War," Kelly added in the statement.
