An armed citizen engaged a gunman at an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday, according to witness accounts and video footage. The incident resulted in two deaths and seven wounded before the assailant is believed to have died by suicide, police said.

The armed individual reportedly opened fire on the suspect, who was armed with an AR-style rifle, outside the restaurant. Witnesses indicated that this intervention may have allowed diners and employees to escape the crowded establishment. Lane Koehn, who captured video of the event, stated he was stopped at a light when he observed the shooter emerge from the drive-thru before another man began firing a pistol at him.

Following the exchange of gunfire, Koehn reported seeing an employee with a chest wound being helped across the parking lot by another uniformed individual. Koehn and the employee remained with the wounded worker until paramedics arrived. Police have not yet released the identity or motive of the deceased gunman.
