Arizona Woman Missing for Two Years Found Alive in Mexico, Family Doubts Identity

An Arizona woman who disappeared over two years ago has reportedly been found alive in Mexico, authorities announced. Shayna Feinman, 38, vanished on March 9, 2024, while walking to a friend's house near Peach Springs and the Hyde Park area in Seligman, Arizona. Her whereabouts remained unknown for over two years, with police having found her cell phone and belongings at a nearby residence.

During the initial investigation, authorities had sufficient evidence to charge Feinman's boyfriend, Cavett Richards, with murder and concealment of a body, though her remains were never recovered. These charges were later dismissed. |

On October 23, officials in Mexico stated they found Feinman alive in the Encino neighborhood of Tijuana. The Tijuana Municipal Security and Protection Service (SSPCM) reported that her characteristics matched the missing woman's description.

"After confirming her identity, the officers provided her with custody and protection, as well as moved her to a safe location. This was done to enable the consular authorities and her family to contact her and follow up on the relevant procedures," the SSPCM stated in a Facebook post.

However, Feinman's sister, Kara Feinman, has expressed doubts about the woman's identity, stating the family has not yet met her face-to-face. "There are a ton of people that are short like she was and have dark hair, everywhere," Kara told FOX10. "I can only hope and pray [for] good news, but right now, we have to be realistic, rational and calm."

Paul Wick, a spokesperson for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, confirmed they are aware of the reports but stated, "At this time, the information remains unconfirmed, and there is insufficient evidence to verify her identity."

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of Feinman's disappearance and how she may have ended up in Mexico. The Yavapai Silent Witness previously offered a $20,000 reward for information regarding her whereabouts.

Authorities had previously reported that Feinman was believed to be walking to a friend's house but never arrived. Her cell phone was recovered on a nearby property, and individuals last seen with Feinman were reported as not cooperating with the investigation.

In addition to Richards, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) had probable cause to charge William DalCerro with second-degree murder, conspiracy, and concealment of a dead body. Both men were previously arrested on unrelated weapon and stolen vehicle charges. According to court documents, the murder charges against them were dismissed in January 2025.

Arrangements are reportedly being made with the U.S. Consular office to ensure Feinman's safe return to her family, pending identity verification. | The Tijuana Municipal Security and Protection Service (SSPCM) said Feinman was found in the Encino neighborhood and that her characteristics matched the missing woman
