Arizona Rep. Yassamin Ansari Dating YouTuber Jack Cocchiarella
The Democratic congresswoman, 34, is reportedly dating 24-year-old progressive YouTuber Jack Cocchiarella.
Arizona Rep. Yassamin Ansari, 34, is dating progressive YouTuber Jack Cocchiarella, 24, according to a report by TMZ. The couple reportedly met in spring 2025 when Cocchiarella interviewed Ansari for his show and have been seeing each other for the past few months.
Ansari, a first-term Democrat representing Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District, declined to comment on her personal life. In a statement, she redirected attention to current political issues, including the ongoing war in Iran and the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
"I’m not commenting on my personal life, nor is it anyone’s business," Ansari stated. "Right now, ICE is terrorizing communities across the country with zero accountability, and Trump’s reckless war in Iran continues raging on. I’m focused on helping to flip the House so we can pass meaningful legislation — that’s what we should all be focused on."
Cocchiarella also declined to comment on the relationship.
Ansari, born in Seattle to Iranian immigrant parents, grew up in Arizona. She attended Stanford University and interned in then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s district office in 2012. She became the first Iranian American Democrat elected to Congress in 2024.
Previously, Ansari faced scrutiny over claims regarding her ties to Iran. An online petition circulated in April, which garnered over 13,000 signatures, called for an investigation into alleged "undisclosed foreign lobbying and ties" between Ansari and Iran. The petition included a doctored image of Ansari and offered no evidence of the claims. Ansari publicly rejected these allegations, calling them "hateful rhetoric, lies, cruel and deliberate misinformation" and an "outright lie."
Cocchiarella, who is from Winter Park, Florida, gained early attention as a student activist at Dartmouth College. He faced multiple sexual assault allegations at Dartmouth in 2022, according to the Columbia Spectator. He later sued a former classmate over online claims of rape and sexual assault, a case that was settled. Cocchiarella has denied any wrongdoing.
He transferred from Dartmouth to Columbia University in 2022, where he earned a political science degree and worked as a digital consultant for Democratic campaigns. Cocchiarella has since amassed over 1.6 million subscribers on YouTube, interviewing notable Democratic figures including New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
