A manhunt is underway in Pima County, Arizona, following a home invasion and sexual assault that occurred about 30 miles from the residence of Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing since February.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident, which took place early Monday morning in the 12000 block of West Vegas Drive. According to authorities, an intruder entered a home through an unlocked door, assaulted a resident, and then attempted to burglarize the property before fleeing.

Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that there is currently "nothing to indicate the cases are related" to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. The 84-year-old Guthrie vanished from her Catalina Foothills home on Feb. 1. The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff's Department are continuing to investigate her disappearance.

The suspect in the home invasion is described as either Hispanic or White, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build, and has gray in his beard. He was last seen wearing an oversized green shirt. No arrests have been made in connection with this incident.

Authorities have urged residents in the vicinity of the West Vegas Drive crime scene to review any available security or surveillance footage that might assist in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or submit an anonymous tip to 88-CRIME.

In the investigation into Nancy Guthrie's disappearance, the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI have been involved. Earlier this year, FBI Director Kash Patel commented that a delay in the bureau's involvement in the Guthrie case may have hindered the investigation, a claim disputed by Sheriff Nanos, who maintained that the FBI was notified promptly and collaborated with local investigators.

Photos released in February showed an unidentified individual observed outside Nancy Guthrie's home. At the time, authorities described this person as being between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall.
