A man in Vail, Arizona, has been arrested and accused of murdering his pregnant wife, a crime authorities say he committed by stabbing her and then running her over with a car.

Joseph Clark, 49, called 911 on Friday to report that he had killed his wife, 39-year-old Noelle Clark, who was in her second or third trimester of pregnancy with their third child. Responding officers found Noelle Clark's body wrapped in a blanket in the garage. The couple's two children, aged 2 and 5, were found unharmed inside the home.

According to charging documents, the alleged attack began in the couple's children's bedroom. Authorities found whip marks on the victim's body that matched a belt found in the room. Clark then allegedly stabbed his wife in the chest. A knife and blood were discovered in the children's room.

Investigators believe Clark then dragged his wife's body into the garage and ran her over with a vehicle. Evidence at the scene included tire marks on the victim's arms and bloody tire prints on the garage floor.

During his arrest, Joseph Clark reportedly claimed his wife had been torturing him for years, alleging she subjected him to electric shocks that caused his teeth to fall out. Police noted no obvious injuries to him that would support his claims.

Clark has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder. His bond has been set at $1 million.
