A Scottsdale, Arizona, doughnut shop has been saved by its community after owner Daniel Tes shared his financial struggles on social media. The Local Donut, which has been in business for 10 years, experienced its worst summer and was unable to make payroll.
Tes told FOX 10 Phoenix that the business felt pressure after spring training to prepare for the summer season but couldn't keep up. "Last week was probably our worst. We couldn't make payroll," he stated.
Facing the prospect of closing, Tes "humbled himself" and posted on social media, asking for community and divine assistance. The following day, the shop was filled with customers. The community's support extended beyond individual patrons, with other local businesses participating in a pay-it-forward gesture to support their fellow small business owner.
"There's a lot of selfless people out there, a lot of generous people," Tes said, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support. Regular customers also voiced their relief that the shop would remain open.
Tes indicated his intention to pay forward the generosity he received and continue serving the community for years to come.
