Ariana Biermann and Liam Obergfoll Confirm They Are Not Dating
The "Next Gen: NYC" co-stars addressed their relationship status at Page Six's "Virtual Reali-Tea" Awards, clarifying that their connection is strictly platonic.
Ariana Biermann and Liam Obergfoll, stars of Bravo's "Next Gen: NYC," have confirmed that they are not romantically involved. The clarification came during Page Six’s second-annual “Virtual Reali-Tea” Awards, held Tuesday night.
"We are not dating," Biermann stated at the event, standing alongside Obergfoll and their castmate Shai Fruchter. Despite the lack of a romantic relationship, Biermann expressed appreciation for the fan support, noting, “I love that, I think it’s very sweet. Liam’s an incredible guy and I’ve always said that. It’s been awesome.” Obergfoll echoed the sentiment, adding, “I love the support. I’m a fan of her.”
Biermann and Obergfoll spent the evening together at the Edison Ballroom, where Obergfoll was present as Biermann accepted the “Breakout Star” award. The two initially connected at a cast party early in Season 2 of "Next Gen: NYC." At the time, Biermann had recently ended a nearly nine-year relationship. She and Obergfoll, who is 29, began dating, and he assisted her with her move into a new apartment.
However, their burgeoning connection became complicated when castmate Charlie Zakkour, who had expressed interest in Biermann since Season 1, also began pursuing her. This led to Biermann being caught in a love triangle. Ultimately, she decided to step back from Obergfoll to explore a connection with Zakkour, which was depicted in the Season 2 finale.
The relationship with Zakkour proved to be short-lived. By the time of the Season 2 reunion, Biermann and Zakkour were reportedly at odds. Biermann shared her frustrations regarding comments Zakkour made after filming the reunion, stating, “It was not chill… to watch [him] turn around, call me a bitch, and say that too is not my vibe.” She indicated a lack of desire to reconcile or discuss the matter further with Zakkour.
Obergfoll also commented on Zakkour's behavior, noting a pattern of apologies without lasting change. "The problem with him is that he apologizes after everything and he keeps doing it over and over again. So what’s the point?"
