Arch Manning Interviewed by Holly Rowe Weeks After AI Video Controversy

Texas quarterback Arch Manning conducted a postgame interview with ESPN reporter Holly Rowe on Saturday, less than two weeks after apologizing for calling an AI-generated video depicting her being slapped "hilarious." The interview occurred on the field following No. 1 Texas's 20-17 victory over No. 14 Tennessee.

Rowe questioned Manning about the hard-fought win and the significance of securing a victory in a stadium where his uncle, Peyton Manning, achieved college football renown. Manning responded by crediting his team's defense and acknowledging the difficulty of an SEC road win. He completed 14 of 19 passes for 201 yards and threw an interception, while Texas committed 11 penalties for 115 yards. The Longhorns' defense recorded 10 sacks, with Colin Simmons accounting for a program record-tying five.

Manning also spoke briefly with Rowe about offering encouragement to Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon after the game, stating, "He's a great player. I wish him all the best."

The interview drew mixed reactions on social media, with some viewers praising its cordial nature and others expressing concern that Manning appeared subdued following the recent controversy and his subsequent apology. The exchange gained additional attention due to the events that transpired after Texas's Sept. 12 comeback win over Ohio State.

Following the Ohio State game, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian interrupted Rowe’s opening question with cheers and walked away from the interview. Subsequently, an altered video circulating on social media falsely depicted Sarkisian slapping Rowe. When asked about social media edits days later, Manning mentioned the fabricated clip and described it as "hilarious." He issued an apology the following day, acknowledging the remark was "hurtful" and stated, "I specifically want to apologize to Holly Rowe for what she has personally had to deal with because of my comments."

Rowe publicly accepted Manning's apology, confirming they had spoken privately. "Apology accepted. We move forward with respect and kindness for one another," Rowe wrote. Saturday's interview appeared to reflect this sentiment, with both Rowe and Manning concluding the exchange cordially.
