Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning apologized Tuesday for his reaction to an artificial intelligence video that depicted coach Steve Sarkisian slapping ESPN reporter Holly Rowe. The incident occurred following Texas's comeback victory against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Manning had commented on the video during a press conference on Monday, reacting with laughter. The AI-generated clip superimposed an image of Sarkisian yelling at and slapping Rowe during a postgame interview.

"In my press conference yesterday, I made an insensitive comment about an AI video," Manning stated in a post on his Instagram Stories. "There is nothing funny about it. It’s easy to say I didn’t mean it, but I know my words and actions were hurtful to a lot of people. I do not take that lightly and am deeply sorry for that."

He specifically directed his apology to Rowe, stating, "I specifically want to apologize to Holly Rowe for what she has personally had to deal with because of my comments. I have a ton of respect for her and appreciate her showing me grace in this moment. I need to do better and will be more thoughtful going forward."

Rowe acknowledged Manning's apology on social media, writing, "Thank you Arch. I appreciate our conversation about this – which will remain private. Apology accepted. We move forward with respect and kindness for one another."

Manning's initial comments drew scrutiny online after the AI video clip circulated. The video stemmed from an awkward postgame interview between Sarkisian and Rowe after the Texas win. Sarkisian briefly addressed Rowe before rejoining his team's celebration.

During the game's halftime, ESPN's Laura Rutledge had explained that Sarkisian had to decline an interview due to technical issues and a long wait time, and that both Sarkisian and ESPN had apologized for the delay. Rutledge clarified that Sarkisian had been patient despite the technical difficulties.
