Arbeloa Escapes Ban After Comments on Manchester United Match
Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa received a fine and a warning for remarks made after a draw against Manchester United, avoiding a touchline ban.
Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa has avoided a touchline ban following his post-match comments after his team's draw against Manchester United last month. The English Football Association (FA) charged Arbeloa with misconduct, but he has been let off with a warning and a £25,000 fine.
Arbeloa had suggested that the officials favored Manchester United in the Premier League match, which ended 1-1 with a late equalizer for United at Craven Cottage. "Every decision was for them and I knew after the game against Man City that they would not let Man Utd lose," Arbeloa stated in his immediate post-match interview. He added that his team "deserved a little bit more" and felt they were "a little bit unlucky again."
The former Real Madrid coach admitted the FA charge. The FA's decision means Arbeloa will be present on the sideline for Fulham's upcoming match against Hull City.
Fulham has had a difficult start to their league campaign, with Arbeloa yet to secure a victory in their opening six Premier League games. The team currently sits at the bottom of the league table.
