Season 7, set to premiere at a date yet to be announced, will adapt the eighth novel in Herron's series, "Bad Actors." The plot will follow Lamb and his team as they investigate a mole within the British government. The season's narrative is expected to pick up threads from the Season 6 finale, involving a Russian GRU operative and unresolved threats.

When a key member goes missing, former MI5 head Claude Whelan is tasked with finding them, a trail that leads back to MI5 and implicates Diana Taverner. The novel also explores the presence of Moscow's First Desk in London and Jackson Lamb's potential knowledge of unfolding events.
Inside Slough House, the team will face further disruption with Shirley Dander in rehab, Roddy Ho preparing for something, and a new recruit, Ashley Khan, joining the ranks. The book series has nine installments, with "Clown Town" being the latest planned novel.
The renewal for Season 8 was announced alongside the Season 7 confirmation, with Apple TV stating that this season will feature a confrontation between Jackson Lamb and Diana Taverner. Lamb will be tasked with uncovering a dark secret within MI5 to resolve the situation.
