A U.S. federal appeals court has reinstated a jury's $4.7 billion verdict against the National Football League in an antitrust lawsuit. The lawsuit alleged that the NFL overcharged subscribers for its Sunday Ticket game telecasts for over a decade.
The ruling by the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a previous decision by a lower court judge in California. The judge had initially thrown out the jury's verdict, which was delivered in 2024. However, the appeals court has also stated that the league is entitled to a new trial specifically on the issue of damages.
