Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) recently addressed the possibility of dating a conservative, stating that she likely would not pursue such a relationship due to differing values. Her comments, made in response to a question from TMZ, were later discussed on Fox News.
When asked by Charlie Cotton of TMZ if she would "ever date a conservative" or "ever entertain" it, Ocasio-Cortez initially laughed before responding, "I have to say it's probably not." She further elaborated, "Don’t date across the aisle? It’s not to... no foul to people who do. And of course, how you define that is very different from person to person, right? But I think a lot of politics sometimes, at least for me, is about values, and being aligned in values I think is tremendously important."
Her remarks drew a critical response from Fox News hosts Julie Banderas and Jesse Watters on the "Watters’ Cooler" segment of Jesse Watters' primetime show. Banderas stated, "Girl, no conservative would want to date you." Watters noted that the initial question was about dating, not marriage, to which Banderas responded that at Ocasio-Cortez's age, she would eventually want a husband. The hosts then commented on Ocasio-Cortez's age.
