Antonio Brown Reaches Plea Deal in Florida Attempted Murder Case

Former NFL player Antonio Brown has reportedly reached a plea agreement with Florida prosecutors that is expected to keep him out of prison in his attempted murder case. His attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, stated that the offer was one Brown "couldn't refuse."

Brown is scheduled to appear in Miami-Dade court on September 30, where he is anticipated to formally accept the plea deal. This agreement is expected to result in probation for the former Super Bowl winner, averting a potential prison sentence of up to 30 years.

Brown was accused of firing a weapon outside a boxing event on May 16, 2025. He has maintained that he acted in self-defense, claiming he discharged the firearm as a warning after leaving a confrontation and returning to retrieve his gun.

"This was not an easy decision," Eiglarsh said in a press release. "Antonio believes in his innocence. He believes strongly in his Stand Your Ground defense, and he believes he would ultimately prevail at trial. But when prosecutors put an offer on the table that transforms a potential decades-long prison sentence into a significantly reduced charge and probation, there was simply no way he could reasonably turn it down."

The announcement follows statements from Brown's alleged target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, a jewelry designer. Nantambu has publicly stated he does not wish to participate in Brown's prosecution and denied receiving compensation to cooperate with the defense.

The dispute between Brown and Nantambu reportedly began in 2022 when Nantambu accused Brown of stealing a valuable pendant in Dubai. Nantambu also alleged that Brown falsely reported him to the police in the United Arab Emirates, leading to Nantambu's brief imprisonment.

Nantambu subsequently sued Brown in Florida in 2022, securing a verdict that was later vacated in 2024. While the case was dismissed, Nantambu pursued a reduced judgment of $123,600 in federal bankruptcy court, a claim Brown has denied.

The incident in May 2025 occurred outside an Adin Ross boxing event, where Brown and Nantambu encountered each other. According to Nantambu, Brown summoned security to surround him before retrieving a handgun. Video footage from the event appears to show an individual resembling Brown fleeing a fight and later returning with a firearm.

Eiglarsh has previously acknowledged that Brown fled the altercation and returned with a concealed firearm. However, he has asserted that Brown fired only "warning shots" deliberately aimed away from Nantambu, intending to deter aggression and allow Brown to safely exit the scene.
