Antonio Brown Announces Comedy Debut Amid Legal Troubles
Former NFL star Antonio Brown is scheduled to perform at a Massachusetts comedy club on December 18, while his legal proceedings for an attempted murder charge are ongoing.
Antonio Brown, the former NFL wide receiver, has announced his comedy debut at the New England Comedy Club in Cambridge, Massachusetts, scheduled for December 18. The event is also set to include meet-and-greet opportunities with fans, with tickets priced at $77.
This announcement comes as Brown faces an attempted murder charge stemming from a May 16, 2025, shooting outside a celebrity boxing event in Miami. While he was expected to plead no contest to aggravated assault as part of a deal to avoid jail time, his court date has been postponed. Brown's attorney has stated that the plea deal offered by prosecutors would significantly reduce the criminal charge and result in probation instead of a prison sentence.
Brown's departure from the NFL was also unconventional. In his last game in 2022, he removed his Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey and pads mid-game and ran off the field, an incident that marked his final appearance in the league. During that 2022 season, Brown and then-Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady were coming off a Super Bowl victory.
Before joining the Buccaneers, Brown played with the New England Patriots but was released after just one game amid a sexual assault investigation. His post-football career has been marked by public commentary and controversial actions, including mocking political figures and criticizing former teammates on social media.
Despite his legal and public challenges, Brown had a distinguished NFL career, earning seven Pro Bowls and leading the league in receiving twice during his tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers. His transition to comedy adds another unexpected chapter to his public life.
