Antonio Brown Accepts Plea Deal in Attempted Murder Case

Former NFL star Antonio Brown has agreed to a plea deal in his attempted murder case, his attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, announced Wednesday. Eiglarsh stated that the deal was "an offer he couldn't refuse" because it will result in a lesser charge and a recommendation for probation, thereby avoiding any further jail time.

Brown is scheduled to formally accept the plea agreement in a Miami-Dade County, Florida, courtroom on September 30. According to his attorney, while Brown maintains his innocence and believed in his Stand Your Ground defense, the plea deal offers a significant reduction from a potential decades-long prison sentence.

The charges stemmed from an incident in May 2025 outside an Adin Ross boxing event in Miami. Prosecutors alleged that Brown attempted to kill Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu during a dispute, claiming Brown took a gun from a security guard and fired it. Brown's defense contended he was acting in self-defense after being attacked.

Eiglarsh emphasized that Brown's decision was not an admission of guilt but a pragmatic choice to resolve the case and move forward. "He is accepting it because the State made him an offer he couldn’t refuse," Eiglarsh said. "There is a profound difference between believing you can win a case and deciding that you and your family cannot afford to spend another year, or potentially several years, wearing an ankle monitor and fighting it."

Brown's attorney added that the former athlete is now focused on his children, rebuilding his professional opportunities, and finding closure after fighting the case for over ten months. The plea agreement will require Brown to stay away from the alleged victim.
