Anthea Turner, 66, Reveals Results of Non-Surgical Facelift
The former GMTV presenter shares her experience with Focus Dual treatments, joking about mistaken age due to her rejuvenated appearance.
Anthea Turner, 66, has unveiled the results of her non-surgical facelift, a decision prompted by dwindling confidence in her appearance as she aged. The former GMTV presenter shared that the aesthetic treatments have been so effective that some bus drivers have questioned her age when she attempts to use her Freedom Pass.
"Since having these aesthetic treatments there have been quite a few occasions when I try to use my Freedom Pass and the bus driver asks, 'You're not, are you?' and I have to persuade them that I am indeed 66-years-old!" Turner quipped.
Turner underwent a series of six monthly Focus Dual treatments, a procedure that combines micro-needling and radio frequency technology for skin rejuvenation. Prior to the treatments, she expressed a growing self-consciousness about loose skin on her neck and jawline, a sentiment she noted is common among her friends.
"I think you get to an age where you suddenly stand in front of the mirror and start pulling your skin tighter around your face," she said, demonstrating by pulling her skin back to emphasize a sharper jawline and neck. "I don't have a girlfriend of mine in my age group who doesn't do that, and you go, oh, that would look nice."
Seeking a solution, Turner visited her local aesthetic clinic, Bodyvie in Richmond, at the beginning of the year. After researching various aesthetic options, she opted for the Focus Dual treatment based on the clinic's recommendation for her skin type and age. Key factors in her decision were the treatment's safety, effectiveness, minimal downtime, and the promise of natural-looking results.
"I wanted something that was safe, effective and very little downtime," Turner stated. "They said they had got some amazing results for their clients with this system and that the results looked really natural, which was important to me because I really didn't want to come out of this looking like I'd had work done on my face. It was a no-brainer really."
Her treatment plan involved a gradual approach. "We decided that the best thing to do was slow and low. I don't want to lose the plumpness that I already have in my face, that I've held on to," she explained. "I wanted to primarily look after my skin. If you look after your skin, everything glows, everything looks great, and that's the approach we went for, and I have got exactly what I wanted."
Each session, lasting approximately an hour, included the application of a numbing cream to ensure comfort. Turner described the pain level as minimal, rating it a three out of ten on a discomfort scale.
The minimal recovery time was also a significant advantage for Turner's busy schedule. "I have very little time in my life to have downtime, and so one of the things that I was looking for was something that had minimal downtime, and Focus Dual absolutely does," she shared. "I would say that if I had a procedure at 1 o'clock in the afternoon, by the next day, maybe I would look a little bit pink, but nothing that I couldn't hide with make-up and go out."
Turner's course of six full face and neck treatments cost £500 per session. She noted that the overall investment in her confidence and appearance was highly worthwhile, with several UK clinics offering a series of six treatments for under £2,500. She plans to maintain her results with a Focus Dual treatment every three to four months.
Turner expressed particular satisfaction with the improvements in her jawline and neck area. "The fact is that when you start using the Focus Dual not only do you get a much tighter jaw, you get a better quality of skin on your neck, and your neck has got very thin skin on it," she said. "I've noticed people have said to me, 'Oh, your skin looks good.' and I go I've had Focus Dual and then they want to know more about it. And want that."
Reflecting on her before and after photographs, Turner observed a significant difference, particularly in skin quality. "Gosh, this is the first time I've seen these pictures. This is me eight months ago, and me now. My goodness me, I can see a difference. I definitely can. You see, again, you know, it's the quality of the skin. Look after your skin. Really, really important."
She also highlighted the positive impact on her facial structure and volume. "Keeping my volume was actually very important to me. Tightening the skin on my whole face, it's made a difference to my apples and eyes. Gosh, that's a task. Well, I never."
Turner encouraged others to commit to a full course of treatment, emphasizing that results are progressive and not instantaneous. "I think that up until probably your mid to late 40s, you don't really notice a huge amount. Everything seems to be going in the right direction, that's okay. And then all of a sudden, as you approach 50 and beyond, you do notice changes," she noted. "We are losing collagen. You don't really notice it for a while and then you really do. I would like to think, really, that what the Focus Dual has done for me, and because I committed to a course, and this is really, really important, and I impress upon my friends, if you're going to do this, don't waste your money having three and then go, ''Oh no, I'm not going to have any more because I don't think it's doing anything.'' You do the course. And even when you've done the course, it carries on improving."
In related personal news, Turner revealed in April that her wedding to Mark Armstrong had been postponed for the fourth time due to ongoing renovations at her home. The couple, engaged since September 2019, had previously rescheduled their nuptials due to family bereavements and the COVID-19 pandemic.
