Anson Williams, 77, Shares Shirtless Selfie with Defiant Message to Boomers

Anson Williams, the 77-year-old actor known for his role as Potsie Weber on "Happy Days," recently posted a shirtless selfie on Instagram, accompanied by a message of empowerment for his fellow Baby Boomers. Williams celebrated his current health, creativity, and ongoing career, asserting that he feels more alive than he did at 40.

"My yearly reminder to every Boomer: NEVER let anyone diminish us because of our age," Williams wrote in the caption. He attributed his outlook to his partner, "good lovin’,” kindness, adventure, and a degree of discipline. Williams emphasized that there are still "mountains worth climbing" and credited his refusal to let others define his worth for his continued thriving.

Williams encouraged his followers to persevere with their goals, stating, "We didn’t come this far to become invisible. We came this far to become unstoppable. We’re not winding down. We’re still winning — and we haven’t even played our best hand yet."

His message comes decades after experiencing the intense side of fame during "Happy Days." Williams previously recalled an incident at the Del Mar Racetrack where he was mobbed by thousands of fans, resulting in his shirt being torn and him sustaining minor injuries before being pulled to safety by his manager. At the time, he expressed uncertainty about navigating fame.

Williams starred in all 11 seasons of "Happy Days," which aired from 1974 to 1984. The series also featured Ron Howard and Henry Winkler. In 2025, Williams, Howard, Winkler, and Don Most reunited publicly for the first time in 50 years at a panel at Steel City Con.

Following "Happy Days," Williams transitioned to directing, helming episodes for shows such as "Beverly Hills, 90210," "Melrose Place," "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "Xena: Warrior Princess," "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," and "Charmed."

In his personal life, Williams married writer and real estate broker Sharon MaHarry in 2023. The couple had reconnected years after first meeting when she sold him a home. Williams described their relationship as one of "selfless love" and "an undefinable chemistry." They also collaborated on the off-Broadway production "Crazy Mama: A True Story of Love and Madness," which Williams directed and starred his former "Happy Days" co-star Linda Purl.
