Another Anchor Departs Nexstar Station Amid Meteorologist Scandal

Shelby Reilly, a co-host and producer for WTWO's "Good Day Live" in Terre Haute, Indiana, announced she will leave the Nexstar-owned station next month. Her departure follows a period of turmoil at the station, marked by the contentious exits of meteorologists Alex Kerkhove and Jesse Walker, whose close relationship was described as "creepy" by coworkers.

Reilly, who is engaged to former WTWO anchor Zeke Torres, shared her decision on social media, stating, "For a long time, I thought I would do this forever. But somewhere along the way, my dreams changed." She also humorously referenced her relationship with Torres, commenting, "Zeke and I became HR’s biggest nightmare."

Reilly and Torres met in 2021 when Reilly joined WTWO. Their relationship reportedly began after a birthday outing for a colleague. They are planning a wedding ceremony for February 2027. Reilly previously worked at WTWO in various roles, including reporter, morning anchor, and weather fill-in, before a brief stint at CBS Sacramento and her return to WTWO in January to co-host "Good Day Live."

Torres also had a history at WTWO as a reporter and weekend anchor before transitioning to a communications role at Indiana State University. He was named the university's associate director of communications in April 2023.

The ongoing situation at WTWO intensified with the departures of Kerkhove and Walker. Kerkhove, a recent Purdue University graduate who joined the station in 2025, claimed station management monitored conversations and restricted her interactions with Walker. Anonymous employees told industry newsletter FTVLive that Walker had shown a "deep interest" in Kerkhove and that the pair became "obsessed with each other," with one source describing their relationship as "very creepy."

Despite these claims, Kerkhove and Walker publicly characterized their bond as a mentorship and friendship. Walker, WTWO's chief meteorologist for over four decades, defended Kerkhove, calling her an exceptional meteorologist. The pair had announced plans to launch their own weather company, but Nexstar reportedly ended Walker's tenure early, preventing him from delivering a farewell.

Adding to the recent staff changes, FTVLive also reported that a longtime photographer recently left the station. Reilly's planned departure at the end of next month marks another exit amid the ongoing controversy at WTWO.
