Anne Robinson, the 81-year-old television presenter known for her roles on "Weakest Link" and "Countdown," is selling her seven-bedroom country mansion in the Cotswolds for £4.25 million. Robinson is relocating to London to be closer to her daughter, broadcaster Emma Wilson, and her two grandchildren.
The property, an 18th-century barn conversion located near Cirencester in Gloucestershire, was originally purchased for over £2 million. The estate spans 4.5 acres and includes a seven-bedroom house, a separate guest cottage, six bathrooms, barns, and a tennis court. Estate agents Butler Sherborn describe the Grade II-listed conversion as "exquisite," noting it was renovated to a high standard with impressive proportions suitable for both entertaining and family living.
Robinson, who gained fame as the presenter of the BBC consumer program "Watchdog," spent two years transforming the property in the Coln Valley, an area sometimes nicknamed the "Sili-Coln Valley" due to its high-profile residents. She first acquired one of the estate's barns in 2006 for £1.2 million, later converting an outbuilding into a cottage. In 2012, she purchased the adjacent barn for £870,000 and combined the two structures.
Robinson cited concerns about aging in a rural location and the logistical challenges of family support as reasons for her move. She expressed a desire to be more accessible to her daughter, particularly in case of emergencies. It is understood that Robinson, who has stopped driving due to worsening eyesight, has found a new residence in central London, near Hyde Park.
Robinson's decision to sell her Cotswolds home follows a trend of other celebrities, including Stella McCartney, Elizabeth Hurley, and Joe Wicks, who have also left the area. The presenter also maintains residences in New York City and the Hamptons.
