Annah Tagovailoa, wife of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, has clarified a social media interaction that led to speculation about a "burner" Instagram account.
Annah explained that a comment on her husband's recent post, which read, "We’re so proud of you!! You got this ❤️.," was mistakenly posted from her account instead of his. The post featured a photo of Tagovailoa in his new Falcons uniform.
"No burner account!" Annah wrote in a follow-up comment. "I was busy with the kids this morning and forgot to switch back to my account.. He’s busy at work as he’s said he doesn’t have social media and I post on his behalf! Will pay more attention next time 🤦🏽♀️."
Her explanation has been pinned to the top of Tagovailoa's post, which was captioned, "For the A 🫡."
Tagovailoa joined the Falcons on a one-year, $1.3 million contract after his release from the Miami Dolphins in March. He played in the Falcons' 17-12 preseason victory against his former team, completing seven of eight passes for 95 yards and fumbling a snap.
The Atlanta Falcons have not yet announced a Week 1 starting quarterback for their September 13th road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team's initial 53-man roster includes four quarterbacks: Tagovailoa, Michael Penix Jr., veteran Cooper Rush, and undrafted rookie Jack Strand.
Rush was signed in July during training camp when Tagovailoa experienced lower back tightness. Penix is currently recovering from a left knee injury that concluded his 2025 season, and he did not participate in any preseason games.
Falcons General Manager Ian Cunningham stated on Wednesday that the starting quarterback for Week 1 has not been determined. Cunningham did not rule out the possibility of Penix being ready for the season opener, noting the player's hard work in his recovery and the team's planning to prepare him for potential participation.
