Anna Faris' 'Mom' Co-Star French Stewart Defends Actress After Chuck Lorre's Memoir Diss

French Stewart, who played Chef Rudy on the CBS comedy "Mom," has defended his former co-star Anna Faris after the show's co-creator, Chuck Lorre, made critical remarks about her in his recent memoir. Stewart posted a throwback photo of himself with Faris on Instagram, describing her as a "funny, kind [and] prepared" actress who "delivered on show night."

Stewart, who spent eight years on "Mom" working alongside Faris, called her "the spine" of the hit series and expressed that he was "dishearten[ing] to see Chuck Lorre throw her under the television bus in his new book."

Lorre's memoir, "Sitcom," published on Oct. 13, states that he felt vindicated by Faris's decision to exit the series in 2020 after seven seasons. The show continued for one more season without her.

"I wasn’t sure [when casting that] Anna would be appropriate for this kind of material," Lorre wrote, adding, "As the years went by, it became apparent that my initial reluctance to hire Anna was, in fact, correct."

Stewart countered Lorre's assessment, stating, "Whenever I saw Anna — I saw a woman working hard to make a good show. Whenever I saw Chuck — I saw a man trying hard not to turn into a werewolf."

He concluded his post by saying, "That was my experience. I wouldn’t trade a day working with her."

George Paez, who played Ramone on "Mom," agreed with Stewart's sentiments, writing that Faris "always made me feel welcomed." He added, "When she would say my name out load, my heart would light up and I would say to myself, ‘She remembered my name.'"

Faris herself addressed Lorre's remarks in an Instagram Story last week, stating, "Yikes. Yes, I read a few things. I really didn’t see that coming. Of course it hurts."

She expressed gratitude to Lorre for her time on the show, noting her sobriety of over a year and a half and stating, "Now I’m healthy, I’m working, and I’m happier than I’ve been in a long time."
