Ann Widdecombe, a former Conservative minister and a prominent pro-Brexit campaigner, has died at the age of 78. Her agents, Cloud 9 Management, confirmed the news in a statement.

"It is with great sadness that today we announce the death of The Right Honourable Ann Widdecombe, DSG," the statement read. "We send our deepest condolences to Ann's family and friends."

Widdecombe's parliamentary career spanned over two decades, during which she represented Maidstone in Kent as a Member of Parliament. Following her time in Parliament, she became an increasingly vocal advocate for the UK's exit from the European Union.

Beyond her political career, Widdecombe also gained public recognition for her appearances on popular television shows, including the BBC's "Strictly Come Dancing" and as a runner-up on "Celebrity Big Brother" in 2018.
