Television presenter Anita Rani, 48, made a rare public appearance with her boyfriend Alex Lavery as they were seen leaving the Sky Arts Awards on Tuesday night. The couple held hands while departing the event at The Roundhouse.
Rani was at the ceremony to present The Times Breakthrough award to Nancy Farino, the writer of the dark comedy play "Fatherland." Rani herself was dressed in a shimmering purple minidress for the occasion.
This public outing marks a notable appearance for the couple, who made their debut together in September of the previous year during London Fashion Week. Rani's 14-year marriage to technology executive Bhupinder Rehal concluded in September 2023.
Alex Lavery is the head of Frqncy Ldn, an immersive sonic experience company that focuses on the effects of sound and the mind on the body. He has previously participated in Glastonbury Festival's wellness program, offering sound meditations.
Rani has spoken about her relationship with Lavery, describing him as having a "beautiful soul" and "great energy." She noted the satisfaction of sharing a similar passion for music, recounting a time when Lavery gifted her a range of vinyl records. He had paid close attention to her musical tastes, leading to a shared enjoyment of music.
The Sky Arts Awards celebrated achievements across 11 competitive categories of British and Irish arts, alongside three special recognition honors. The ceremony was co-hosted by artist Sir Grayson Perry and musician Rebecca Lucy Taylor, also known as Self Esteem.
