Animal Lover Tragically Killed While Attempting Kangaroo Rescue

Jane Faulder, 60, died on September 25 after being struck by a vehicle on the Monaro Highway in New South Wales, Australia. Emergency services were called to the scene about one kilometer south of Bredbo at approximately 6:30 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car. Paramedics treated Faulder at the scene, but she could not be saved.

Faulder is believed to have been on her way home when she noticed an injured kangaroo on the road. According to local residents, she stopped to try and move the animal off the highway to prevent it from being hit when she herself was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a 54-year-old man, was not injured but was taken to a hospital for mandatory testing. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.

Friends and family have paid tribute to Faulder, remembering her passion for animals and her dedication to volunteer work. She was also a long-time calisthenics athlete and a cherished member of her local theatre group. The Australian Calisthenics Federation described her as a champion who brought joy and a sense of community to those who knew her. Her local community theatre group, the Queanbeyan Players, also expressed devastation at her passing, noting her enthusiastic presence in several productions over the past decade.
