Anika Rashaun, 'The Real World' Star, Dies at 34 After Battle With Cancer
The reality television personality and advocate for breast cancer awareness passed away on October 1.
Anika Rashaun Walker Rehn, known for her appearances on MTV's "The Real World" and "The Challenge," has died at the age of 34. Rashaun lost her battle with stage four breast cancer on October 1.
Born in New York City and raised in Philadelphia, Rashaun gained recognition for her role in "The Real World Seattle: Bad Blood" and later competed on "The Challenge: Invasion of the Champions." Beyond her television career, she established herself as a dating matchmaker, columnist, and coach.
In the summer of 2025, Rashaun was diagnosed with cancer. Shortly after, she co-launched a podcast titled "Breast Friends Forever" with Tiara Ramos. In an October 2025 announcement, the pair stated their intention to share their journey, aiming to raise awareness and inspire hope.
Ramos shared a tribute on Substack following Rashaun's death, describing her friend's diagnosis as a shock. Ramos noted that despite her mother having a history of breast cancer, Rashaun was not identified as high-risk and was not advised by doctors to prioritize mammograms, which Ramos characterized as a failure within the medical system.
Rashaun married Kyle Rehn in February 2026. Reflecting on their relationship in November 2025, she wrote about enduring challenges that year but finding solace in their constant love for each other.
After her time on "The Real World," Rashaun relocated to Los Angeles and developed her brand, Ask Anika, which included a YouTube series. She graduated from Pace University in 2013 with a degree in Communications and Media Studies.
Rashaun is survived by her husband, Kyle Rehn, and her parents, John and Constance Walker, and her brother, Akil Walker.
Rashaun would have celebrated her 35th birthday on October 22. A private celebration of life and birthday dinner was held in New York City this week. The family is accepting donations to assist with medical costs through Meal Train.
