Angie Best has announced she is cancer-free following major surgery to remove tumors from her colon. The 74-year-old former model had been diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in January, which had spread to her liver.

Best underwent a procedure to remove the remaining cancerous growth after undergoing chemotherapy and immunotherapy, which had reportedly shrunk a 30cm tumor. She shared the news via an Instagram video on Saturday, stating, "I’m a truly happy grateful girl, it’s over."

She explained that she had been discharged from the hospital after a laparoscopy, a form of keyhole surgery. "The chemo and the immunotherapy prior had shrunk my 30cm lump down to a little tiny bit that was attached to the colon. They shrunk it, now we go in and cut it out," Best said.

Best also detailed her recovery process, noting a significant weight loss due to fluid-only intake for three days post-surgery, followed by a sensible, white-food diet. She confirmed she was able to use the bathroom, indicating her colon was functioning correctly. "I'm so happy because now I can officially say with gratitude and love that I am cancer free and healing," she added.

Although she is recovering, Best cannot return home yet due to the major nature of the operation and must wait eight more days. She expressed a desire to "reinvent myself at the ripe old age of 74."

Earlier in her treatment, Best traveled to Switzerland for mistletoe therapy, an unconventional treatment used in Europe that proponents suggest can stimulate the immune system. She combined this with homeopathic remedies alongside traditional chemotherapy. Her son, Calum Best, had previously shared a positive update in March, stating his mother no longer had cancer in her liver.

Angie Best, ex-wife of the late footballer George Best, had kept her followers updated on her progress throughout her battle, sharing details about hair loss and debilitating symptoms. Calum Best had publicly announced his mother's diagnosis in January, setting up a GoFundMe page to help cover specialist treatment costs.
