Andy's Man Club, a national charity focused on men's mental health and suicide prevention, is expanding its services in Devon as it marks its 10-year anniversary. Founded in 2016 in Halifax, West Yorkshire, the organization provides what it describes as a "game-changing" safe space where men can talk openly about their feelings without fear of judgment.
The charity was established in memory of Andy Roberts, who died by suicide at the age of 23. Since its inception, Andy's Man Club has grown significantly, opening numerous branches across the United Kingdom.
In Devon, the charity first established a club in Newton Abbot in 2018. Currently, there are 14 Andy's Man Club locations operating within the county. A new club is set to launch in Ivybridge on Monday, further extending its reach.
One member, Roger Bond from Plymouth, shared his experience, stating that he joined his first session approximately three years ago when he was "in a very dark place." He added that he has "never looked back" since attending.
The organization's expansion in Devon reflects a broader effort to address men's mental health challenges and reduce suicide rates by offering accessible support networks.
