Andy Reid Credits Taylor Swift for Travis Kelce's Resurgent NFL Season
The Kansas City Chiefs coach believes the pop superstar's demanding tour schedule motivates his star tight end.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has credited pop superstar Taylor Swift with playing a role in Travis Kelce's strong start to the current NFL season. Reid suggested that Swift's rigorous touring schedule might be influencing Kelce's motivation and performance.
"I think Taylor, you're putting on four-hour shows, you've got to work hard too. So I'm sure she kicks him in the butt a little there too," Reid stated, referencing Swift's energetic performances on her Eras Tour.
Kelce, in his 14th NFL season, has shown a marked improvement compared to recent years. On Sunday Night Football, he recorded his first 100-yard receiving game since the 2024 AFC Divisional round and caught his first touchdown pass of the season during a 33-30 overtime victory against the Indianapolis Colts.
Reid noted Kelce's dedication during the offseason, dispelling any notions that his relationship with Swift might have led to a lack of focus. He described Kelce as appearing 'svelte' in training camp, looking remarkably fit just weeks after marrying Swift.
Swift was present at the game on Sunday and was seen celebrating Kelce's touchdown, reportedly exclaiming, "That's my husband!"
Kelce has accumulated 12 receptions for 172 yards in the two games played this season, demonstrating a resurgence in his performance. The Chiefs are scheduled to face the Miami Dolphins next Sunday.
