Andy Carroll Speaks Out About Sexual Assault by Kevin Adams
Former footballer Andy Carroll has publicly identified Kevin Adams as the individual who sexually assaulted him, an act Carroll states he will 'never get over.'
Former England and Liverpool footballer Andy Carroll has disclosed the identity of his attacker, Kevin Adams, a dance instructor previously known for his appearances on television shows. Adams, now 59, was convicted and sentenced to 20 months in prison in 2023 for the assault.
Carroll, 37, revealed Adams's name after becoming aware that it was available in public court documents. He shared his experience on "Piers Morgan Uncensored," stating that the assault had been "eating me alive inside for so long" and that he will "never, ever get over that."
Adams, who coached on the BBC1 talent show in 2002 and appeared on "Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two" in 2021, was identified by Carroll as a "celebrity mate" who had attacked him.
Carroll, currently playing for National League South club Dagenham & Redbridge and serving as assistant manager, detailed the traumatic event in his new book, "Owning It." He explained that the assault occurred several years ago after he had consumed alcohol. He woke to find Adams attempting to sexually assault him.
"I sleep naked and when I wake up this guy is under the duvet trying to give me a blowjob," Carroll wrote in his book. He stated he then physically retaliated and ordered Adams out of the house.
Adams's defense claimed he was assaulted by Carroll, but the judge rejected this, calling his account "literally incredible."
Following the conviction, Adams was placed on the Sex Offender Register and prohibited from entering the village where Carroll resides.
Carroll expressed that speaking about the assault has provided some relief, particularly with the support he has received from the public and the football community. He noted that during his time struggling with the trauma, particularly during his tenure at Newcastle, he felt he lacked adequate support. He now feels he has that support, both personally and publicly.
