Andy Carroll and Billi Mucklow Sell Mansion After Price Cut

Andy Carroll and Billi Mucklow have finalized the sale of their six-bedroom mansion in Essex, nearly two years after first listing the property. The estranged couple eventually sold the 18th-century estate for £7.5 million, a reduction of £1 million from its original asking price.

The property was initially listed for £8.5 million in November 2024, shortly after the couple's separation. A buyer had been secured at that price in June of the previous year, offering a substantial profit for Carroll and Mucklow, who had purchased the home, formerly owned by Rod Stewart, for £4.1 million.

However, that sale fell through, leading to the property being relisted for £8 million in October last year. After several months without a buyer, the price was further reduced to £7.5 million in January.

The sale comes as Carroll has spoken publicly about their marriage, describing it as a "car crash" in his recently released book. A source told The Sun that the sale was a relief for both parties, stating, "It’s no secret that Andy and Billi couldn’t wait to get rid of their old home. It was hanging over their heads and delaying their divorce." The source added that Mucklow is actively pushing to finalize all matters.

The Grade II listed mansion features six bedrooms, four reception rooms, five bathrooms, a boating lake, a swimming pool, and a tennis court. Reflecting Carroll's career as a former Newcastle United striker, the estate also includes a full-sized football pitch, a two-bedroom cottage, four barns, and stables with a gym.

The couple, who share three children—Arlo, Wolf, and Marvel Mae—are reportedly relieved to have the sale concluded. Mucklow also maintained a close relationship with Carroll's two older children, Emilie Rose and Lucas, whom she helped raise.

In his book, Carroll reflected on the difficulties in his marriage, noting that it was already strained before their 2022 wedding. He detailed periods of depression and excessive drinking while playing abroad, exacerbated by a broken promise from Mucklow to join him with their children. He described his marriage as "on its last legs" even before they were married and realized it was over when he felt he wasn't missing his partner during periods of separation.

The book also touches on the challenges Carroll faced after retiring from football, describing it as like "staring into the abyss" and worrying about the impact of his increased presence at home on his relationship. He noted that in a footballer's life, everything must revolve around the player's career, and retirement can cause significant disruption.

Their wedding ceremony itself was nearly jeopardized when Carroll was photographed with two women on his stag do, though Mucklow reportedly forgave him after assurances that nothing sexual occurred. Less than two years after their wedding, the couple confirmed they had begun divorce proceedings.
