Footage has emerged of Prime Minister Andy Burnham dancing energetically to Ricky Martin's "Livin' La Vida Loca" at a 2024 fundraising event. The performance, which took place with professional dancer Cara Tighe, was in support of a charity initiative for Rob Burrow, the late rugby league player who lived with motor neurone disease (MND).

The unearthed video from the charity event has gained attention following Burnham's own reflections on his participation during a recent appearance on Channel 4's Celebrity Gogglebox. He admitted to experiencing a "clang of anxiety" whenever he hears the song, recalling the event. "I did this for Rob Burrow. Honestly, never, ever again," Burnham stated.

Despite his reservations about the particular song, Burnham also shared his hypothetical choice if he were ever invited to compete on the reality dance competition, Strictly Come Dancing. He suggested he would perform to "Sit Down" by James, a song closely associated with Manchester's music scene.

Burnham appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox alongside Liverpool City Region mayor Steve Rotherham as part of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign. The pair offered reactions to emotional cancer stories featured on the show, with Burnham expressing his devastation for families affected but also noting the hope found in ongoing research.

His appearance on the program marked the first time a Prime Minister had been featured on Gogglebox. The appearance drew criticism from Tory leader Kemi Badenoch, who questioned whether Burnham was avoiding "difficult" work. Burnham defended his participation, stating he would "make no apology" for attempting to "lead with a bit of lightness" and expressing pride in supporting Stand Up To Cancer.

Burnham is not the first political figure to participate in Gogglebox, with Jeremy Corbyn, Stanley Johnson, and Nigel Farage having previously appeared on the show or its spin-offs.
