Andrew Wiggins will remain with the Miami Heat after agreeing to a three-year, $64 million contract extension. The deal includes a player option for the third season, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Wiggins has picked up his $30.2 million player option for the 2026-27 season, with the remaining $34 million to be paid over the final two years of the agreement. This contract comes as the Heat navigate significant roster adjustments following their trade for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The team's salary cap situation had led some to believe Wiggins might be a casualty of the trade, but the new contract indicates he is part of Miami's long-term plans. Wiggins joined the Heat in 2025 as part of a five-team trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors. He previously played for the Warriors for over five seasons and spent six and a half seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Last season, Wiggins averaged 15.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game for the Heat, shooting 47.5% from the field. The former No. 1 overall draft pick out of Kansas has career averages of 18.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists since entering the league in 2014. The 31-year-old is expected to be a starter on a revamped Heat roster that traded Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, and Kasparas Jakučionis, among other assets, to acquire Antetokounmpo.
In addition to Wiggins' extension, the Heat also exercised their $2.30 million team option on Pelle Larsson. Larsson averaged 11.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 70 games with Miami last season, shooting 49.6% from the field. The team has not yet re-signed Normal Powell, who was an All-Star last season and averaged 21.7 points per game.
