Andrew Tate's Lawyer Claims Influencer Is 'Very Sick' in Miami Prison, Denied Medical Care
Joe McBride alleges his client is not receiving necessary medical treatment and threatens legal action against the Federal Detention Center.
Controversial influencer Andrew Tate has become seriously ill in a federal prison in Miami and is being denied necessary medical treatment, according to his lawyer, Joe McBride. Tate, 39, is currently detained at the Federal Detention Center (FDC) in Miami while fighting extradition to the United Kingdom to face numerous charges.
McBride issued a public statement on X, formerly Twitter, stating that Tate has repeatedly requested medical attention but has not received it. "Andrew is very sick," McBride wrote. "He asked for medical treatment multiple times. Medical care is a fundamental human right. If Andrew does not get treatment soon, we will sue FDC Miami into oblivion. Pray for him."
The specific nature of Tate's illness has not been disclosed, and his lawyer's claims about the lack of treatment have not been independently verified.
Tate and his brother Tristan, 38, have been held at the FDC Miami since their arrest on July 18. The facility has previously faced allegations of poor conditions, including overcrowding and unsanitary environments. Human Rights Watch has documented reports of "extreme overcrowding, unsanitary conditions and abusive treatment" at the center.
The brothers are awaiting extradition to the UK, where prosecutors intend to charge them with nearly 60 criminal offenses. Andrew Tate faces allegations of rape, human trafficking, and possession of child sexual abuse material. Tristan Tate faces 17 counts, including rape, sexual exploitation, and sexual assault, with alleged offenses occurring between 2010 and 2017. Both brothers have denied all charges.
This is not the first time concerns have been raised about Andrew Tate's health during his legal proceedings. While facing charges in Romania, he previously requested permission to travel for medical reasons, citing lung concerns.
Earlier in their detention, concerns were also raised about the brothers' access to food and commissary supplies. In August, Tristan Tate claimed in a handwritten note that they had received minimal snacks over more than a month and that he had lost 13 pounds. McBride amplified these claims, alleging significant weight loss for both brothers and accusing prison officials of lying about commissary access. However, records obtained by the Miami New Times indicated that as of early August, Andrew Tate had over $3,500 in his commissary account, and Tristan had over $2,500.
The extradition proceedings also involve allegations of extreme pornographic material, including claims that Tate possessed bestiality pornography. These allegations, like the other criminal accusations, remain unproven in court.
