Andrew Tate's Lawyer Claims Influencer is 'Very Sick' in Miami Prison

Controversial influencer Andrew Tate is reportedly "very sick" while incarcerated at the Federal Detention Center in Miami, and his lawyer is publicly appealing for medical intervention.

Joe McBride, Tate's attorney, stated on Tuesday that the 39-year-old former kickboxer has made multiple requests for medical attention but has not received any. "Medical care is a fundamental human right," McBride declared in a statement posted to X. "If Andrew does not get treatment soon, we will sue FDC Miami into oblivion. Pray for him."

Tate and his younger brother Tristan, 38, are being held at the facility as they fight extradition to Britain to face a multitude of criminal charges. The specific nature and severity of Andrew Tate's reported illness have not been disclosed, and the attorney's allegations about the lack of treatment remain unverified.

This is not the first time Tate's health has been a subject of concern during his legal proceedings. In Romania, while facing charges there, he previously sought permission to travel for medical reasons, citing lung issues.

The brothers were arrested on July 18, following an extradition request from British prosecutors who aim to return them to the UK to face nearly 60 criminal counts collectively. Andrew Tate faces numerous charges, including rape, human trafficking, assault, and possession of child sexual abuse material. Tristan Tate is charged with 17 counts, including rape, sexual exploitation, and sexual assault, with alleged offenses spanning from 2010 to 2017. Both brothers have denied all allegations.

The Federal Detention Center in Miami has previously been the subject of scrutiny regarding inmate conditions. A Human Rights Watch report documented allegations of "extreme overcrowding, unsanitary conditions and abusive treatment." Other accounts have described issues such as cockroach infestations and unsanitary cells.

McBride's recent claims follow earlier complaints from his clients about inadequate access to food and commissary supplies. In August, Tristan Tate shared a handwritten note alleging the brothers had received minimal snack items and had suffered significant weight loss. McBride subsequently claimed that Tristan had lost 13 pounds and Andrew had lost 8 pounds, accusing the government of lying about their commissary access.

However, records obtained by the Miami New Times indicated that as of early August, Andrew Tate had over $3,500 in his commissary account, and Tristan had over $2,500.

The extradition proceedings have also brought to light further allegations against the Tates. Romanian authorities accuse Andrew Tate of recruiting a minor at age 15 for sexual exploitation in the UK and Romania between 2012 and 2021. British prosecutors have also presented claims involving extreme pornographic material, including allegations of bestiality pornography, as part of their case.
