Andrew O'Keefe Faces Extended Restraining Order Amid Court Appearance

Police are seeking to extend a restraining order protecting a prominent Sydney woman from Andrew O'Keefe for an additional two years, a development the former television host described as "unusual." O'Keefe stated that there have been no incidents or breaches of the order since it was initially imposed.

O'Keefe indicated he was unaware the apprehended domestic violence order (ADVO) was returning to court until contacted by the Daily Mail. He subsequently made inquiries with police and the Downing Centre registry.

"I don't wish to preempt the court's thoughts on the matter," O'Keefe said. "But one thing is clear as a matter of simple fact: there has been no incident of any kind that has triggered this unusual application."

O'Keefe was unaware the ADVO was returning to court when contacted by the Daily Mail and subsequently made his own inquiries with police and the Downing Centre registry

He was informed that the woman allegedly expressed fears for her safety, prompting police to apply for the extension of the expired order. The onetime "Deal or No Deal" presenter has a history of legal troubles, including convictions for domestic violence, drug offenses, and driving offenses. He has undergone rehabilitation programs and served short jail sentences.

O'Keefe has previously been convicted of domestic violence, drug and driving offences, undergoing cycles of rehabilitation and spending short stints behind bars
