A Delta flight carrying a group of notable passengers, including actor Andrew Garfield and Love Island USA contestant Dylan Wrona, was forced to make an emergency landing in Albuquerque on September 9 due to a smoky odor detected in the aircraft's cabin. The plane was en route from Los Angeles to New York City.

Delta confirmed the diversion in a statement, apologizing to customers aboard Flight 958. "The aircraft landed uneventfully and our teams worked to reaccommodate customers as quickly as possible to their final destinations," the airline said.

Among the other celebrities on board were Jurassic World actor Nick Robinson, Adults actor Owen Thiele, and singer Mark Ambor.

Wrona, 24, shared an Instagram story featuring a selfie with Garfield, 43, taken at the Albuquerque airport, with the caption, "Our plane is here to save us."

Thiele, 29, documented his experience during the grounding, forming friendships with fellow passengers, including Ambor, 28. He shared a series of Instagram posts showing him and his new acquaintances spending time together, including getting drinks and ordering food. One post showed Thiele and a group of nine people he had just met heading to Dave and Buster's. Another depicted a group boomerang shared by Ambor with the caption, "Owen immortalized our Albuquerque experience 4ever."

Thiele later updated his followers, stating that Robinson was seated next to him on the subsequent flight. He also expressed gratitude for the unexpected connections made, writing, "Thank u for following along lol i love my new friends we’re all in a group chat." Wrona, meanwhile, posted about the inconvenience, noting, "Airport bar closed," and asking for entertainment suggestions during the five-and-a-half-hour wait.

Separately, Garfield recently garnered attention for his role in an upcoming biopic about OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The trailer for the film, directed by Luca Guadagnino, prompted varied reactions online, with some viewers questioning the necessity of a film about Altman's brief ousting and rehiring from OpenAI in 2023, while others noted Garfield's previous performance in a biopic about a tech figure, "The Social Network."
