Anderson Cooper Mocks Trump's Obsession with Men's Looks
The CNN anchor dubbed Donald Trump 'the a**man-in-chief' for his recent string of compliments directed at the physiques of Republican candidates.
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper has criticized Donald Trump's recent tendency to comment on the physical appearance of men, dubbing the former president "the a**man-in-chief." Cooper's remarks came during a segment on his Wednesday night show, where he highlighted several instances of Trump praising the looks and physiques of Republican figures, particularly Ohio Senator Jon Husted.
Cooper opened his segment by referencing a scene from the sitcom Seinfeld, humorously suggesting that the character Kramer was no longer the sole famous "a**man." He then pivoted to Trump, describing him as a "derriere aficionado" and mocking his approval rating by stating it was "thanks to all his political junk in the trunk."
Trump's comments about Husted, a former college football player, included descriptions of his body as "like a piece of steel" and his backside as "like a pile of muscle." At a campaign rally in Ohio, Trump stated he was "studying" Husted's body and noted, "I looked at his a**, and I looked at the whole, and then I looked at his hands. He’s got these, like, claws. And I got it. You are a great athlete."
At another event in North Carolina, Trump reiterated his observations, saying, "I looked at his a**, shit, it’s like, it’s like a pile of muscle. I tapped him on the shoulder, and it actually hurt my hand. He’s like a piece of steel. I said, 'This guy’s a monster!'"
Despite Trump's assertion during a recent campaign stop that "fixating on men's looks has never been my thing," Cooper presented a montage of other occasions where Trump had complimented men's appearances. These included remarks about Georgia gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson being a "very handsome, distinguished, beautiful-looking guy," Senator Tim Sheehy as a "handsome guy," congressional nominee Ed Gallrein as "beautiful," and Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker as a "good-looking sucker."
Cooper concluded his segment by noting that while Husted's physique might be impressive, his polling numbers were "soft," as he trailed by approximately five points in his race. Trump had appeared at the rally with Husted in an effort to boost his standing ahead of the midterm elections.
