The inaugural British Hewing Championships recently took place at the Earth Trust near Little Wittneham, highlighting the ancient art of hewing.

Hewing is the traditional method of shaping logs into beams and planks, a fundamental process in the construction of timber-framed buildings.

The championships provided a platform to demonstrate and preserve this historic craft, drawing attention to the skills involved in traditional woodworking and construction techniques.
