Anais Gallagher, daughter of Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher, has revealed that her father is banned for life from entering China.

In a recent YouTube video, Anais Gallagher, 26, expressed a desire to visit China and see the Great Wall but acknowledged her father's permanent ban as an "enemy of the people." She stated her uncertainty about how this ban might affect her own travel plans, suggesting she would need to investigate visa requirements with the embassy.

Noel Gallagher first learned of his ban in 2022 when attempting to secure a visa for a planned Oasis tour in China, a tour that was ultimately canceled. He stated he received a letter from the Chinese Ministry of the Interior citing his past actions. Gallagher recalled that while Oasis was invited to perform in China approximately 20 years prior, the Chinese government provided a list of songs deemed inappropriate. He later discovered the reason for the ban was his participation in the 1997 Tibetan Freedom Concert in New York City.

Gallagher performed solo at the concert because other band members, including his brother Liam, were unable to attend. His involvement led to concerns from the Chinese government, which has long asserted military control and sovereignty over Tibet. The conflict centers on China's claims versus Tibet's historical independence and the ongoing suppression of Tibetan culture. Gallagher stated that Chinese officials were concerned he might express pro-Tibetan sentiments.

Oasis issued a statement in 2009 expressing disappointment over the ban and hope for reconsideration by Chinese authorities. Anais Gallagher's comments come as Noel and Liam Gallagher have released a new documentary chronicling their 15-year feud and subsequent reconciliation.
