Michael Douglas, during a recent episode of "The View," questioned co-host Ana Navarro about her continued affiliation with the Republican Party. Navarro responded that her decision is primarily driven by the closed primary system in Florida, where she resides.

"I want to be able to vote in the primaries and vote against those sons of bitches,” Navarro explained, citing her desire to influence the outcome of primary elections. “Make a difference in the primaries.”

Navarro, a frequent critic of former President Donald Trump and his allies, has previously expressed her frustrations with the direction of the Republican Party. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she noted that she has questioned whether she would ever change her party affiliation.

She also addressed criticism from some conservatives who question her status as a true Republican. Navarro, who supported Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, stated, “I’d argue that anybody who espouses the same views as Donald Trump isn’t much of a traditional Republican. I’m not going to be lectured to about what a Republican is or isn’t.”
