Ana Montana, Girlfriend of NBA Star LaMelo Ball, Faces Felony Drug Charges
The Instagram model was arrested in North Carolina for allegedly using a fraudulent prescription to obtain Xanax.
Ana Montana, the longtime girlfriend of NBA player LaMelo Ball, has been arrested and charged with felony drug offenses in North Carolina. The 36-year-old model, whose real name is Analicia Chaves, was booked into a Mecklenburg County jail earlier this week.
According to court records, Montana's legal troubles stem from a February incident where she allegedly attempted to pick up a Xanax prescription at a Charlotte Walgreens. Law enforcement claims the prescription was filled using a physician's stolen DEA registration and provider credentials.
Authorities have issued arrest warrants charging Montana with two felony counts of obtaining controlled substances by fraud or forgery, along with two misdemeanor counts for simple possession of a Schedule IV drug. Her defense team, led by attorney Matthew Pruden, has stated that Chaves was a patient filling an order from a doctor and did not forge any prescriptions herself. The statement clarified that the charges allege a doctor used a fraudulent DEA registration to prescribe Alprazolam for Chaves.
LaMelo Ball is not named or implicated in the ongoing investigation, according to official police records.
Montana posted bond and is scheduled for a court appearance on October 20. The couple welcomed their son, LaOne, in January.
