Amy Mickelson, wife of professional golfer Phil Mickelson, was seen without her wedding ring during a recent grocery store trip in San Diego. The sighting marks her first public appearance since her husband became embroiled in controversy over allegations of sexual misconduct.
Mickelson was photographed at a Trader Joe's with her daughter, Amanda Brynn, on Tuesday. Her left hand, where the wedding ring is typically worn, was notably bare as she entered and exited the store. It is unclear why she was not wearing the ring.
This event comes after Phil Mickelson faced allegations of sexual misconduct. Earlier in the spring, he was reportedly removed from a golf club in Rancho Santa Fe due to claims that he made "nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact" with a female employee. In late June, an article published by Skratch, penned by Alan Shipnuck, alleged a pattern of inappropriate behavior by Mickelson over the past decade, including an alleged attempt in 2015 to solicit a naked photo from golfer Pat Perez's wife.
Following the reports, a spokeswoman for Mickelson stated that Amy "has supported Mr. Mickelson and their family with extraordinary grace, unwavering love, and the belief that people are measured not only by their failures, but by what they do to make them right" throughout their 35-year relationship.
Amy Mickelson has made fewer public appearances in recent years. In contrast, during the 2021 Ryder Cup, she was photographed wearing a large diamond ring on her left hand. Phil Mickelson has been absent from professional golf for several months, citing a family matter.
