Amy Linker, Star of '80s Sitcom 'Square Pegs,' Spotted in Rare Los Angeles Outing
The former child actress, known for her role alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, has transitioned to a career in social work.
Amy Linker, who rose to fame as a young actress in the 1980s sitcom "Square Pegs," was recently seen on a rare public outing in Los Angeles. The 60-year-old, who stepped away from Hollywood to pursue a career in social work, was photographed during a low-key excursion.
Linker was seen wearing a printed black shirt, denim jeans, and a blue cap with "Coffee" printed on the front. She accessorized with a cream-colored purse and carried a blue water bottle. Her outing included a stroll and a visit to a parking structure.
"Square Pegs," which aired from 1982 to 1983, featured Linker as Lauren Hutchinson alongside Sarah Jessica Parker's character. The sitcom, created by Anne Beatts, depicted the high school experiences of its characters and has been credited by Beatts as influential on subsequent teen-focused television shows.
Linker began her acting career in the early 1980s, with early roles in "A Time For Miracles" (1980) and the NBC series "Lewis & Clark" (1981-1982). After "Square Pegs," she continued to appear in television shows such as "Fantasy Island" and "E/R," and voiced a character in the animated series "Mister T." She also appeared in the 1985 film "D.A.R.Y.L."
Linker's acting credits extended into the late 1990s and 2000s, with appearances in "Holy Hollywood" (1999) and "Don't Make Me Sick" (2009). Her last known acting role was in "Child Of The '70s" in 2016.
Following her departure from acting, Linker pursued higher education, earning a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California. She now works as an outpatient community therapist.
