Amy Griffin Scandals Test Loyalties Among Hollywood and Uptown Elite
Sources say some in Amy Griffin's inner circle are seeking distance amid legal battles and alleged wedding outbursts, though business ties complicate matters.
New York’s social elite and Hollywood A-listers are reportedly conflicted over their associations with Amy Griffin amidst her ongoing scandals, a source told Page Six. "People would like to distance themselves from her," the insider stated, referencing Griffin's recent legal troubles and an alleged wedding outburst that has reportedly caused unease among her acquaintances.
"People are outraged at the way she is behaving. Everyone is talking about it. They are finding the whole thing to be distasteful," the source added.
While some prominent figures are eager to sever ties, their existing business and financial entanglements with the venture capitalist have made them hesitant to fully disengage. Griffin is a significant investor in several celebrity-backed companies, including Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine. She also holds stakes and board positions at Bumble and Spanx.
However, other influential individuals remain supportive of Griffin. The venture capitalist has been involved in a legal dispute since March, when a former classmate sued her, alleging that Griffin appropriated her account of childhood sexual abuse for her 2025 memoir, "The Tell." Griffin’s book detailed her own alleged recovery of memories of sexual assault during MDMA-assisted therapy.
In June, Griffin filed a defamation countersuit, denying the accusation of adopting another woman's trauma. The controversy surrounding her memoir has been a topic of discussion, with entertainment journalist Billy Bush reportedly recounting an incident at Jennifer Meyer’s wedding where Griffin allegedly confronted him over his reporting on the legal dispute.
Bush claimed Griffin instructed other guests to avoid him before confronting him directly. He stated that he attempted to de-escalate the situation, suggesting they discuss the matter at another time. Bush also alleged that Griffin approached his girlfriend at the same event, questioning her association with him and accusing him of abuse.
Representatives for Griffin did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
